Get over yourself. Some girls DID use yogurt cups. I know sisters personally that admitted to using yogurt cups. Just say, me, myself as khaleeji girl, think yogurt cups are dump and whoever did that was silly. Cuz people did it. I am not lying. I know people, The looking glass knows people... online bloggers know people. LOL, just don't do it yourself and all's good. And don't go off in Arabic on me unless you are quoting hadith or Qu'ran, cuz I don't really need Arabic for anything else. Read the history. Talk to people. Stop trying to be mean to me. I disagreed with their stance so I wrote my thoughts on the matter to tell the sister not to invoke my name to prove her point. So the point you make it moot. It was another sister trying to defend herself for wanting to be a wannabee and me going, nope honey, there is bad in Omani culture too. And good in your own. You can make a sweet mix if you are an international couple.

I ask my husband what makes me not Saudi. He says a. you don't look like one b. I will wear used clothing or less expensive clothing, c. I refuse to have maids, d. Most Arabic music gives me a headache, e. I don't like the hair clips, f. I don't like how alot of the imported workers are treated, g. I don't like that alot of people don't follow the sunnah in Islamic countries, and so to me, are often only Muslims in name and by birth, e. I didn't want a wedding feast that the poor could not attend, f. I didn't ask for a maher of physical wealth and my nikah took one day to plan

Which is VERY different from ALL the khaleeji girls I've been friends with.Pixiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08451049563167761015noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-923965432025935498.post-66064655023327694082009-06-11T07:29:01.743-07:002009-06-11T07:29:01.743-07:00Ladies: Don't worry about defending me.
Shaik...Ladies: Don't worry about defending me.

Shaikha: LOL, honestly the way you write makes me laugh. If I was a wannabe Saudi girl to fit in with my husband's culture I would a. wear all black like his mother and sister, b. wear a boushiya that covers both my eyes (I personally don't believe in covering both eyes---as it isn't what the Prophet's wives did), I would listen to Arabic music (I don't), I would eat and cook Arabic food (I don't cook so I eat what other people make me or what they buy and hey guess what, it isn't khaleeji), I would change my name to an Arabic one (my name isn't changed), I would wear Arabic make up (I don't), I would try and make myself look physically Arab (I don't)... I wouldn't criticize racist and nationalistic mindsets and caste systems. (I do).

Okay, my culture is more South African. I still schedule my day around the way most people do in KSA. I like Africans foods, especially Ethiopian. I also like French foods because my father is French and makes good French foods. I look French. I decorate my house in a French style (but Islamic---no images), I work and pay half the bills, I don't use hair clips at all in my shaylas but I do prefer black abayas and shaylas purely for the quality of their fabric and the fact I can layer western clothing over them easily. If that is WANNABE KHALEEJI sister, peace be upon you, lol I am. Muslims have ALWAYS dressed this way in places like Mobassa, in Kenya. If you are really a khaleeji girl (most I have known have travelled a bit so I have a twinge of doubt) you might like to visit South Africa and Mombasa. Try and accuse the women living there of being wannabes.

If you are going to be rude or make any more personal attacks (and WHY would you read my blog at all if you find it insulting?) than don't bother commenting. The comment box has always said as much. May Allah give you peace and increase your knowledge and grant all the Muslims better adab.Pixiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08451049563167761015noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-923965432025935498.post-28926889938471400972009-06-11T02:14:12.594-07:002009-06-11T02:14:12.594-07:00Dear Shaikh I'm Saudi (in your own ignorant wa...Dear Shaikh I'm Saudi (in your own ignorant way that might mean something to you)
I would like to just say your an embarrassment to khalijie girls!
I wonder what kind of car you ride unless your still on a camel...
Where your make up is made from...
I wonder where the computer your using to write on this blog is made from...
I highly doubt your boycotting all products foreign...
This page is to inform and express and share (COLLECTIVELY positively)
Your the reason blogs like this one are out, for Muslims to SUPPORT one another despite all other attacks. Whoa there. You rude...Shaikha: Wa alaykom e salaam. Whoa there. You rudely wrote "i would like to ask u why u make khaleeji girls so stupid !!!" I never called khaleeji girls stupid anywhere in this piece, though sometimes I call young khaleeji guys that do crazy road stunts that endanger peoples lives stupid. "yoghurt cups on our head... we never did that, whoever told you that is just making it up ...!" I am stating fact related to me BY KSA girls. Real people I know. Gulf-Arab as you can get that admitted to doing it vainly themselves. In the late 80s the big bump hair trend began with yogurt cups. It wasn't widely practiced but that is how it was done before the clips. I wasn't saying you girls with your big clips look dumb. I said this stylist styled the fashion shoot bad cuz the bumps looked serriously like yogurt cup bumps.

"its [s]o funny how people critize or mock khaleeji girls" A. this post wasn't mocking khaleeji girls, but I retain the right to criticise anything unislamic (in a polite way), whether it is khaleeji or western. I am pretty diplomatic when it comes down to it.

"yet u adapt ur styles to look like US..." Some might. I do for others. I DRESS to have hijab and to look like ME. How I LIKE TO DRESS. I don't just look at a khaleeji or Egyptian or Malaysian or fellow Canadian girl and go.... I wanna look like her/be her/I'm not my own person better be a replica

"AND MANY of you marry our men but critcize us (women) or THEM .... "

First off sister, they are not YOUR men. They are THEIR own men, and they can choose as freely as you. Just because you two have the same passport and skintone doesn't mean you own ANY MAN or any other human being. I'd correct a Canadian chica the same way if she worded something about Canadian men the same way. It sounds just as racist coming from your lips as it does from the Canadian man that got mad at my husband, claiming blacks (he considered Arabs black I dunno) were taking all "his women" meaning anglo girls. When he said it my reaction was, I AM MY OWN-- GOD GAVE ME AN INDIVIDUAL SOUL TO DO WITH AS I SEE FIT. And the man that called me "OUR WOMEN"? I saw him as very distant and unconnected to me. My husband, who I read your words to, feels the same way. He says it is that mindset, whether khaleeji or Canadian, that I am free to mock, though I prefer to inform.

Islam isn't a race. And I married a MUSLIM man. He happened also to be Saudi. I criticize anything in his culture that isn't Islamic. He does the same with his own and mine. We try to do the same with eachother, woman OR man. Unfortunately with khaleeji culture, people speak with a tone of nationalism before an Islamic tone.

"Seriously sister i appreciate the fact ur married to a khaleeji guy and u spent time in a khaleeji countries but it doesnt make u an expert in our culture and style or ONE of us..." I never pretended to be an expert on your culture and style. If I need an expert I ask a khaleeji girl (I have friends alahamdulilah---that don't see that I can't be ONE of them). I don't want to BE khaleeji. I want to be Muslim and everything halal in myself.

"last but NOT LEAST dont mock us in such a way to make us look stupid!" Never did that. Did not write a thing that was mocking. "But the ultimate IRNOY is how you still want to dress like US" I want to dress in clothes I like in an Islamic manner, sister. Khaleeji, Canadian, English, I wear a mix. My culture is Islam and my race this ummah. Nations mean squat to me. Passports mean squat to me. Class and caste whether defined or not mean squat. "i dont want to sound rude" you failed in that I am sorry, "but seriously this is me being up front with u rather than backbite or whatever... Hope you take this into consideration"

I hope my explaination is consideration enough. I am not mocking your culture and have never meant to. If more than eight people have confirmed the yogurt cup story to me (three Saudi, one Qatari, one Kuwaiti, one Omani, and one Emirati) I don't think they are making it up.Pixiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08451049563167761015noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-923965432025935498.post-75188349842701960942009-06-10T12:02:03.153-07:002009-06-10T12:02:03.153-07:00salam 3laik
