Designer Half-Niqabs from the Gulf

InshaAllah, I do intend to be wearing my niqab full-time when I return to Canada. I'll try. I believe it is mustahaab (recommended) so I'll do my best. But of course, I've wondered on what I'll do to wear mine differently. Colours of course. Pins of course. Neats ways of styling the shayla as khimar + the niqab. Decorated niqabs----???? Such as the like that are sold at this website http://www.bestabaya.com/abayas/niqab.html perhaps... but only for super special occasions (like my non-muslim family weddings or galas). These are certainly unqiue but... they all come in sheer. Which is not niqab to me. So I'd have to wear a half-niqab underneath of them for them to be niqab at all. Which might be a tad uncomfortable.
What do you think?
Do you like the idea (if not the exectution of it) of individual style on the niqab, or do you think this might be a bit too exotic/overdone or tacky?
This simple ribbon one is pretty though to me.
Russian Empress anyone?

The ones that are somewhat suttle like the last one or the one with the blue or the stripes would be nice. The others are bordering on tacky.

Its a good idea though. You could totally do these yourself too and save lots of money.

Have fun!

Sincerely, i don't like because to me it's not niqab. It serves only for attracting the glances to the eyes of the one who wears it. That makes a mixture of Islam and orientalism... I see the nose on pic 3 and the lips on last pic.

russian empress or cub bear killer?

i hate fur. gross.

besides that ugly fur one, the rest are gorgeous - especially the red and gold one. would look great against your white skin.

I love the first and the last but one....the others, to me, are too tacky.

Whoa, fur! Since you live in Canada, you might actually be able to pull that off. :)
I don't think I've ever seen anyone wear decorations on their niqabs. I say go for it; you seem like you have a good eye to tell when things are tacky or not.

Salams,

I think its too much with the fur and beads and stuff, and defeats the purpose of why many say they wear niqab. And with the added makeup and very arched eyebrows it always seems that the niqab models are trying to make niqab sexy.

Those are amazing. I would feel a little ostentatious for wearing a niqab like that, but it would be cool to own one just for fun. I doubt I'd have the courage to wear it out though.

Umm, I thought the outermost layer wasn't supposed to be so decorated? That having been said, it looks gorgeous :)

Assalamu alaikom,
I haven't looked at the site yet, only the photos you've got here. I'm gonna look, though, cuz they are interesting. I don't know if I'd wear any of these styles here. They are pretty but they remind me of what a belly dancer might wear or something. You know what I mean? Thanks for the link!

I think anyone who wears niqaab in US or Canada has a lot of courage. You've mentioned going to Canada before -- will you be living there at some point in the future or do you mean for visits?

I understand why the niqabs are sheer...pretty pointless IMO, but I think the decorations look tacky. If the niqab is dressed up a little like has satin or I really like Sunnah Style's niqab with the satin headband - that is ok to me but with fur and glittery things it defeats the purpose.

Salaam alaikum,
I like a few of these, some of them are kind of pretty and would be lovely for special events. I think I would wear the last one- though only outside during the winter... And even then I'd be cracking jokes about it the entire time. :p Shame about them being see-through though. Any way to just sew a second layer onto it?

Great find though!

Cheers.

When u wear niqab, only your eyes should show...not eyebrows and half your nose....whats the point then. These are awful because it attracts attention directly to the face, which is the main reason we wear niqab....to hide our pretty faces for our handsome husbands! LoL...i dont think you should wear these...stick to a pretty scarf instead. Love always. Sumayya

I don't think I like them at all... I like plain ones with colour, I think those bring out a little extra something to seem friendlier and more approachable. These are just too much. And don't make the person more approachable, I feel. And some of them have a gag type of look (I know it's more over the nose than mouth but it still looks that way).

Salam..
i don't really think i could pull that niqab look in saudi arabia without getting a lot of raised eyebrows.. but maybe in canada it can be done =)
personally i think it attracts more attention,,so i don't think i'd do it here or anywhere else

They're pretty (well, except for the fur) but I wouldn't wear the sexy-niqab look out in public. It might be possible in the UAE to find a suitable fabric to line them with, if you wanted to wear it to a function.
