Designer Abaya: make your own, the button edition

Isn't this Dubai-design abaya with gold trim and cute buttons details just so elegant and cute? Well, why not make your own. Purchase this gold trimmed butterfly abaya from http://www.sunnahstyle.com/product_info.php?pName=gold-satin-full-butterfly-abaya&cName=abayas-butterfly for $49.99 USD and spend ten dollars or less on some buttons (to get the same look as the above pic do it in reds, creams, whites, and yellows. And since none of of you can have the excuse that you are too untalented you can't even sew on a button, check out this vid for how-to-sew-on-a-button http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrSs_DiJ-ZA

Juveria: yes, it is a designer abaya, and they have some lovely designs, but this is one a sister can easily decorate herself. Alot of the fancy designer abayas aren't as easy to make at home, which is sorta the point of this post love. It is kash-kash (cool) not elegant. It is hip, not timeless. In my opinion. Thank you for sharing your's. Maybe your style is more elegance than fun?

Ammoorah: I am thinking of buying, but I have so much stuff from sunnahstyle:D I need an overhead abaya for the Gulf so I am saving for that:D| Don't you just love their stuff.... (my question marks won`t work)

Juveria: I mean this in the gentlest way. We should never say things we are sorry to say. I believe in saying what I mean. And I am not trying to be mean. I totally dig that some things are one person's style and other things are another person's style, but since you didn't mention what about it you thought was tacky (and some girls think anything with decoration is tacky) I am totally left wondering.

i said sorry to say meaning i dont want to offend anyone but this is my opinion. it looks so tacky. maybe someone can do the same thing in a nicer manner like with less buttons or something bubt tht thing is trash
Well I think these plain buttons are not my personal style of button choice but there are fancy buttons you can use in gold. And you don't have to place them in rows liek this you can do them anyways on the abaya. That is the beauty of doing your own. You chosoe the buttons you choose the placement. I was fascinated to learn that years ago OK DECADES ago, buttons were used for ornamentation not for closing things. I always remeber that and think about it for clothes. Buttons ehre can be really expensive though for the nice ones and I rarily see a nice gold batch... I'd love to own a button shop! I have a large collection of buttons!
