African Queen Abaya

I am finally going to buy this http://www.sunnahstyle.com/product_info.php?pName=closed-overhead-abaya-with-sleeves&cName=abayas-overhead abaya raas for $56.99 USD. It's what I will wear most of the time in Saudi and Emirates, even though some people consider it a "Grandma" style. I like it though, cuz it is sooooo off the body that one feels air-conditioned:D Also, I can dress mine up very easily with a beaded clutch, a cocktail, ring, some bangles... And I always wear a flip niqab (not tucked in) over-top and my niqabs are usually beaded on the nose-string. I'll wear shoulder styles too, but I like this style, and never can get away with it in the West without people looking at me like I am an alien soooooooo... lol, this is my time to try it out.

Salaam!
This version looks quiet stylish i must say. I guess it looks best on people of average weight, though for people who are overweight this is a great problem solver for the "how in the world am i going to disguise my fabulous womenly curves":))
Have you started wearing niqab already? And are you moving to the gulf soon??And 1 more, last 1 i promis hihi, what are your personal reasons for wearing a niqab, since there are so many discussions bout prons n cons.
Salaam and all the best ;)

Salaam alaikum,
This style of abaya reminds me of a type of clothing that I see worn by a lot of African sisters (except this is floor length and theirs is often to the waist). I don't know if I'd wear it, but I think it could be very pretty and it's very modest. :) The only thing is it seems a bit unpractical. After you try wearing it, maybe you could do a post on how comfortable and practical it is?

Cheers.

Milda: Wa alaykom e salaam :D

I wrote about why I want to wear niqab here http://ilovehishmatheblog.blogspot.com/2009/04/why-do-i-want-to-go-and-wear-niqab-in.html

InshaAllah I will start to wear niqab when I fly out to Abu Dhabi and will not take it off when I come back. InshaAllah all the best to you as well, ameen.

Uni Muslimah: this style is 100% practical so long as you don't have to carry anything heavy (like a baby or shoulder bag). It is the best for hot places as, if you wear niqab, you don't always have to wear a hijab under it.
Thats cool, when are you going abroad?

I definitely can't imagine this working with my weight. But, I think it will be fabulous on you
Pixie. Also, the beading on the nose string is such a good idea just to prevent headaches, which I got from tying it around my head. %56.99 is awesome! What is it made of? Love you sweetie.

Salaam Alykom wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
Where do you get niqab with nosestrings, beaded or otherwise? I can't seem to find them.

And do you know of any that are one layer like that?
JazakaAllah Khairun!
