for my sister in Islam, Sara

When I saw that this jilbab came in this colour, I knew it had to be for you. Jilbab http://www.shukr.ca/Saniya-Dress-P79C43.aspx for $79.95. Hijab from http://www.2hijab.com/extra_large_shayla__khimar_1500.asp for $7.90 USD (that's $8.80 CAD). Pin it with a pretty diamond-esque hijab pin/brooch.

That is a stunning jilbab. I used to love black, but now I am beginning to appreciate a little color in abayas and jilbabs.

Sarah: LOL, no advise you not to carry around a live poodle as an acccessory if you intend to do salat. I guess is you have that time of the month, you wouldn't have to worry. Poodles are like nailpolish:D

In the Gulf I always had a dog. I always walked with it. The bad men were so afraid of the dog they never approached me to try and flirt. Dogs are halal for guarding and it guarded me quite well. But you have to avoid the saliva of the dog. Once it has licked you or the clothes you have to wash both before you can pray. Or wash yourself but change into clean clothing.

i think it would annoying to have to wash constantly (if i had a pet dog). u know whats funny i think 90% of Arabs r terrified of dogs...i'm basing that on my expierence and my family members :P

Habibti: there are hadith that say it is halal to keep dogs for guarding or herding but not as pets. As such, they would not live in the house. Dogs are not to be kept as house pets.

Sara: me too. That's why I don't have one now. I don't like washing things alot.

I think it is sad that people are ignorant of the hadiths or take them way out of wack to become afraid of something that is not scary. It says we have to wash if they lick us, and that we lose reward for keeping them without purpose, and that we should not keep them in our and themselves and rub up on things and who can wash everything all the time?)... It didn't say they were harsh creatures, or harmful to us, and we were told to treat them with kindness, to give them water if they are thirsty, ect.
