a yellow hijab with a butterfly brooch

I often wear my yellow hijab with my golden stone dragonfly brooch, just like this pic from Arab TV above. I love the look.

Not to be a crud, but we should not wear images or sculptures of any creation of Allah on our body...

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked about the ruling on wearing clothes on which there are images of animals or people. He replied: It is not permissible for a person to wear clothes on which there is an image of an animal or a person, and it is not permissible to wear ghutrahs or other headgear on which there is an image of a person or an animal, because it is proven that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The angels do not enter any house in which there is an image.”

Hijab is pretty, her makeup is a little scary

Salaam aleikum.

How pretty :)

What type of khimar do you think that is? Next time you do a tutorial, inshaAllah show how to get that nice over-the-chest drape. Two scarves is getting cumbersome.

It's sooo much easier in the winter. Jackets and cardigans and hoodies :)

Jamilah: Wa alaykom e salaam ramtullah wa barakto sis:D Don't worry about being a "crud" with me, he he he. I just don't consider it an image if it doesn't have realistic face:P If it is a shape, like a butterfly, which to me, is a shape, then it isn't a image.
Asalaamu `alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakato.

Just wanted to quickly add that many scholars today say that wearing on the clothing or whatever images are allowed if they do not resemble the actual creation in such an obvious manner.

For example, wearing a "Hello Kitty" `abaya is not a problem since the symbol does not resmeble a cat, more of a cartoon feature.

Wa Allahu `alum

I still try to stay away from it I guess. I find it totally unnecessary.

Hello Kitty Abaya? Why? lol

Jamilah: you have to know Aalia is a Hello Kitty fan (cuz she comes in everything pink):P

I did look up a bit more on wearing images of animals and also found a ruling talking about not letting kids do it either, so that they won't get used to it. I guess we have to decide where to draw the line. Will we wear a cat pin like this one https://secure01.virginiainteractive.org/shoppingcart/VMFAimages/cat%20pin%20silver4.jpg
because we can't see its eyes? I don't mean to harp on the issue but I really think its best to stay away from it.

Jamilah: I totally think wearing shapes is fine. I think of butterflies as a shape, not an animal. I personally wouldn't wear that cat pin, cuz it looks like an animal but I personally think it'd be fine. But I would wear this butterfly pin, cuz it doesn't look like a real butterfly. I think the reason we don't wear images or have them up all over the place, is so that we don't worship them. But if I was to be that strict on the images thing, that I'd say no to butterfly pins, I'd probably also shut down ILOVEHISHMA, since it has pictures of people on it I don't believe that obviously. I'd still let my kids play with dolls. It wouldn't bug me. I don't believe the prohibition against images prohibits artistic forms---only imitation of Allah's Creation "as if one had the power to create".... But one does have to examine their intentions.
