How to Wear a hip-length Khimar

I have seen quite a few Egyptian and African sisters wearing hip length khimars but I haven't. Most of the time they remind me of my grandma's table cloth, I'll be honest, but I am starting to think I could wear this look, and I admire it's modesty. Top look, for a semi-formal occasion.

This look, for a dressy girly during-the-daylight-hours occasion (very summery).

Something with a little bit of street cred.
LOL, this one is sooooooooooo totally me. I love navy.

All khimars featured are from http://www.hijabgirl.com/la1007.html which is a good site, in my experience.

they are so beautiful and modest masha'allah
I have elbow-length peachskin khimars. I love them! They provide great coverage over the chest. I do get fed up with the, "You look like a nun!" comments. **Sigh** Can't people just not comment??
This is a great style idea!! Khimar with a boho skirt, sandals... I like!

I think the last one looks really cool. Reminds me of sailor-inspired outfits, but nicer:) though I don't think I'd wear khimar in western country unless i was going to jummah or something.

PS Just wanna know if any of you ladies may help me on the topic of eyebrow shaping: Sheikh Ahmed Kutty says plucking to make it thin is prohibited. But that removing excess hair around the eyebrows is permissible in order to be neat and tidy. Exactly what is excess hair? Modern plucking removes excess hair and keeps brows natural shape, is this considered allowed? Or is it thinning? Appreciate your input...
Thanks

I love the white one with the teal skirt, and the beige one with the black dress.

I would love to wear it. It's so beautiful and modest mashallah.

to anon. : we are NOT supposed to pluck our eyebrowns.. it doesn´t matter if its because you want to feel more "fresh", or to shape them.. leave them as they are ! excuse me sounding rude, im just so crazy tired, but just wanted to leave that comment.. about the khimar, i totally love them and wear it all the time... i do think it looks nice and beautiful with the "smaller" hijab, but if i wear them i feel naked.. so this is absolutely what i wear, and i would recommend them because you dont have to worry about your hijab being to small or not covering enough.. but there are shorter ones, maybe you should try that to start with hehe.. LOVE !

I've been liking these too recently, although I thought they were chadors. Solves the problem of finding an Islamically acceptable top, and you don't have to worry about what your scarf is up to, lol.
Salaamualikum.
to annon: I believe the access hair is the unibrow, the hair in between ur eyes because its not apart of an eyebrow.

Inshaallah i plann to post on this!

Assalamu alaikom,
I like these khimars and I have tried wearing them myself but I've never left the house with it cuz it doesn't look right on me and I don't know how to make it look right.

I see quite a few young Somali girls wearing the longer Khimars. I have one that is about hip length, but they are easy to find in lengths from the elbow down to the knees. I think they can look elegant, but they are kind of heavy when worn over a shirt.
